Focus on Prevention: Dental Sealants
At MCNA, we take great pride in delivering access to high quality dental care and services to our members with the help of our outstanding network of providers. We focus on the prevention of oral disease for the children enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP programs to help them avoid painful dental decay, missed hours at school, and costly restorative treatment. One of the most effective methods available for the prevention of tooth decay is dental sealants. According to a 2016 joint report published by the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), children with dental sealants are up to 80% less prone to cavities than those without them. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) has created a series of mini posters to encourage children to brush and floss daily and fight mouth monsters. These colorful sheets can fit on or around the bathroom mirror, providing a fun reminder to start and end the day with "Monster-busting and brushing!"
