Save the Date: 2018 Florida Dental Convention The 2018 Florida Dental Convention will take place June 21 - 23 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando. The pre-registration period began March 1 and will extend through June 9. All FDA members are eligible to pre-register for the convention free of charge. Discounted group rates are available for room reservations at the Gaylord Palms as well as SpringHill Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista. Responsible Prescription of Opioids Using opioids to treat acute pain can lead to long-term use. According to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the likelihood of long-term use increases based on the length of the initial prescription, increasing sharply after the third and fifth days of taking a prescription and again at day 31. The American Dental Association's (ADA's) Statement on the Use of Opioids in the Treatment of Dental Pain makes recommendations for dentists about best practices to adopt when prescribing opioids for acute pain. A Note on Corrected Claims When a claim is returned for missing information (lack of information), your office has the opportunity to correct it and resubmit for processing. To ensure the proper handling of your claim when you resubmit it to MCNA, you must clearly identify it as a corrected claim. MCNA asks that once you have attached or included the information required to complete your claim, you note "Corrected Claim" in the Office Remarks field of the claim form. This note should be included whether you are submitting your claim using a paper form or an electronic form available online through MCNA's Provider Portal (http://portal.mcna.net).
