National Read a Book Day - September 6
National Read a Book Day - September 6

Celebrate National Read a Book Day! Just grab a book and spend some time reading. It's a great way to reduce stress and research shows that reading helps to improve memory and concentration. Older adults who devote time to reading tend to participate in more mentally stimulating activities over their lifetimes and show less cognitive decline over time.

Books are an affordable form of entertainment, a great educational tool, and a pleasant escape from the demands of everyday life! In a world where technology rules, National Read a Book Day invites us to silence the noise by turning pages for a while.

National Gum Care Month
National Gum Care Month

September is National Gum Care Month. It's a great time to remind patients of all ages about the important role that gums play in the health of their teeth. Encourage them to be on the lookout for these early signs of gum disease as they complete their daily oral hygiene care at home:

  • Gums that appear red, puffy, swollen, or tender.
  • Bleeding caused by brushing or flossing.
  • Constant halitosis or bad taste in mouth.
  • Any change in the biting position of the teeth.
